This exciting day trip from Zanzibar takes you to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife destinations. After an early morning flight to Arusha Airport, you will travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater for a spectacular game drive across its wildlife-rich floor. Known for its high concentration of animals, the crater offers excellent chances to spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, and even the rare black rhino. After a scenic picnic lunch inside the crater and more wildlife viewing, you will return to Arusha for your flight back to Zanzibar, completing an unforgettable one-day safari adventure.

05:00 – Pick-up from Your Hotel in Zanzibar and Transfer to the Airport

Your safari adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Zanzibar by our professional driver. You will be comfortably transferred to the airport to catch your scheduled morning flight to the mainland. This early departure allows you to maximize your time on safari and enjoy a full day of wildlife viewing.

You will board a short scenic flight from Zanzibar to Arusha Airport. The flight offers beautiful aerial views of Tanzania’s coastline, countryside, and landscapes. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide who will brief you about the day’s itinerary before starting your journey toward the world-famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

After meeting your guide, you will drive toward the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO for its incredible natural beauty and wildlife density. Once at the crater rim, you will descend about 600 meters into the crater floor where one of Africa’s richest wildlife habitats awaits. During your game drive, you may see lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, and if you are lucky, the rare black rhino.
Around midday, you will stop at a scenic picnic site near a hippo pool inside the crater. Here you will enjoy your packed lunch while surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes and wildlife of the crater. This is also a great opportunity to relax, take photos, and watch animals nearby.
After lunch, continue with a short afternoon game drive as you explore more of the crater floor and observe additional wildlife activity. Later in the afternoon, you will ascend the crater and begin the drive back to Arusha Airport for your return flight.
You will board your scheduled flight from Arusha back to Zanzibar, enjoying scenic views as you travel back to the island after an exciting day of safari.
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, our driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you comfortably back to your hotel. This marks the end of your unforgettable Ngorongoro day trip safari from Zanzibar.
