Umbwe route

The hardest and steepest route to reach Kilimanjaro’s summit, Umbwe is recommended only for truly experienced climbers.

The direct route means that very little time is allowed for acclimatizing, and the trying climbing conditions combine with this to make it the route with the lowest success rate.

The Umbwe route is known for its steep and rocky terrain, and for its scenic beauty. It is a less-traveled route compared to some of the other popular routes on Kilimanjaro, such as the Machame or Marangu routes, which makes it a good choice for those who want a more remote and challenging trek.
